Rectangular certificate of landscape proportions, printed in black on ivory-coloured card, and inscribed in ink. The panel containing the wording is in the form of an irregular scroll surrounded by pointiliste shading, with a stylised fish beneath each of its lower corners, and is surmounted by a roundel showing the E.L.S.A.A.'S name in full with four smaller decorative roundels at the centre. Beneath the scroll is a design of a child wearing a black swimming costume and using a front crawl stroke to swim through the water; a similar figure is shown diving across the middle of the scroll.

Her taking of the 25 yards certificate (B.292-1999) on the same day as this quarter mile certificate suggests that the E.L.S.A.A. stipulated that all candidates held th 25 yards certificate as a minimum and did not recognise those awarded by any other bodies. |
