A shield of arms quartering (1) gules, a chevron engrailed between three boars' heads or (2) argent, a chevron azure between three boars' heads (3) ermine a lion rampant azure, and (4) per bend sinister ermine and azure, a lion rampant argent with the initials ED, MD, TD, SD. The border in blue with alternating flowers, the 'Books' (one of the 'Eight Precious Things') and 'Conch shells'. On the back a device a little like an I, F or E is painted in blue within the foot-rim. Three stilt marks on the front (9.5 cms point to point).
Body colour: Reddish buff.
Glaze: Dull white. A clear lead glaze pooling at the foot, greenish and crawling in places, over a pale slip covers the entire back. The foot-rim has possibly been partially wiped clean of glaze, and has traces of blue here and there.
Shape: Shape A with a deeper well and without an everted rim. Foot-rim pierced with two holes close together before firing. (Alphabetic shape codes as used in appendix to Archer. Delftware. 1997)
