Salt cellar of tin-glazed earthenware and painted. Press-moulded form with winged cupids' heads on the long sides and cartouches at the ends. The interior is painted with a flowering plant and bands of geometric decoration in blue. The ends have respectively a winged cupid's head and the arms of the City of London, argent, a cross gules, in the first quarter a sword of the second. All the decoration is in blue, ochre, green, yellow and orange.
Body colour: Buff.
Condition: One of the short ends of the upper surface restored.
Glaze: Dull white with a shiny kwaart.
Shape: Flat on the underside with two pointed projections. (Alphabetic shape codes as used in appendix to Archer. Delftware. 1997)
