The four designs were based on; a 16th-century velvet border formerly in the possession of Paul Balin; a fragment of 13th-century material in the Victoria & Albert Museum; a material of the period of Louis XIII in the Industrial Museum at Lyons (see also 1350d, based on the same textile); a velvet border of the period of Louis XIII formerly in the possession of Paul Balin. This specimen was exhibited at the Vienna Exhibition of 1873. |
