Object history | Bianchini-Férier of Lyons was the most fashionable firm of silk weavers for couturiers in the first half of the 20th century, supplying amongst others the Houses of Poiret, Jeanne Lanvin and Jean Patou. The firm was internationally renowned for the production of high quality textiles for the luxury market and employed fashionable painters and designers, such as Raoul Dufy and Georges Barbier. Two matching albums containing samples of textiles actually woven from these designs are in the museum’s Textiles Collection, museum numbers T.219-1992 and T.220-1992. |
