Christening Dress

Christening dress of unlined ivory coloured celanese, with a round neck trimmed with a pleated frill (the edge whipped with salmon pink thread), and puffed sleeves gathered into a narrow band, all of self fabric. The fullness of the short skirt is gathered into a yoke at front and back and smocked in salmon pink and powder blue threads: the front is smocked across the chest using cable and chevron stitches in alternating blocks of the two colours, the back has two short lines of cable stitch in each colour on each side. The garment fastens at the back of the bodice with two metal press studs.
