Object history
Exhibitions: Green Images, Victoria and Albert Museum, London, February - May 1992

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament [CND] was set up in 1958 after concern over the first British testing of the H-Bomb in 1957. Nuclear missiles need regular checking, necessitating frequent transport. This poster was issued after vehicles carrying them collided in the middle of Helensburgh, Scotland, June 1985. Vehicles in nuclear convoys have been involved in 3 crashes since then (up to 1992) the most recent of which was on the M25.
