Object history

This panel is one of a series of five goddesses: Hebe, Juno, Ceres, Venus and Diana.
It is reproduced in McClelland, Nancy V. Historic Wallpapers from their Inception to the Introduction of Machinery. Philadelphia and London, 1924. plate on p 177, described as circa 1830, printed by Dufour.

Olligs, H. Tapeten. Ihre Geschichte bis zur Gegenwart. Brunswick. 1969-70., vol II, fig 347, shows two figures from another series, with the same pedestals, entitled 'Die Erdteile', produced by E. Delicourt, printed later than 1830 and probably copies of designs by Dufour et Leroy.
