Whistler suggests 1699 as the date of this plan (Whistler, 1954). A corresponding ground floor plan is E.418-1951. See K. Downes (1959).
Purchased from the Marquis of Bute at auction at Sotheby's on 23 May 1951, lot 19.2 by the National Arts Collection Fund and given to the V & A.
