Caring, Free Self-Government

Poster
1990 (designed and printed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The first free elections in Hungary after the collapse of communism took place in 1990. The election of members of parliament in the summer was followed by local authority elections in the autumn. This poster promotes the Alliance of Free Democrats party which had three birds as its logo. The designers of this poster have made a witty play on the logo, by illustrating a variety of birds each making their own nest in a different way. The government during the communist era had been faceless and arbitrary. This poster corresponds to the hope of the public that, from now on, politics will serve the needs of people and allow room for individual autonomy.
