Leach lived in Japan frofrom 1909 to 1920, and on his return to England established the Leach Pottery in St Ives with the Japanese potter Shoji Hamada. He sought to introduce early Chinese and Korean styles and techniques - as this bowl demonstrates - and to revive traditional English wares.'
