Ceausescu. Kim Ir Sen. Stalin - Complete Works. Hitler

Poster
ca. 1990 (painted), 1990 (printed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The poster depicts, in a caricature style, the legacy of the post-communist political leadership in Romania. The central motif is the Romanian national flag with the communist emblem cut out, symbolizing Romania's liberation from the dictatorship of Nicolae Ceausescu in December 1989. However, the character holding the revolutionary flag is standing on a pile of books written by the dictators Ceausescu, Kim Ir Sen, Stalin (the complete works) and Hitler. His buckle decorated with the symbol of the Communist Party (the scythe and hammer) is visible through the hole in the flag. The poster criticizes the political beliefs of some newly emerged Romanian politicians, which recall the ideological culture of the communist era.
