The Romanian Hungarian Democratic Union (UDMR) is the biggest political party in Romania representing the interests of the Hungarian minority, which accounts for approximately 7.1% of the Romanian population. The party was established in December 1989. After the first democratic elections in 1990, following the overthrow of the communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, the UDMR became one of the key parties in Romanian political life. The slogan 'Together for a common homeland' promotes the common wish of Romanian citizens to reform the country, no matter what their ethnic background. The poster shows an envelope labelled 'Romania' being passed from one hand to another. Underneath, the party's electoral sign appears together with its initials in the Romanian language, 'UDMR'.
