Gatefold card cover sleeve for the 12" long-playing record 'Dazzle Ships' recorded by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark for Virgin Records.
The cover has a dazzle/camouflage design of geometric shapes in greys, greens and pink, with three and a half die cut holes running in a horizontal line across it.. The inside of the sleeve is black: the left-side is lettered in white with the tracklisting, credits etc.; the right side gives an 'pixelated' image of a world map and has a wave of die cut holes running horizontally across it.
The die cut circles across the front cover and inside 'pocket of the sleeve' cause the seperation of the inner and outer sleeves to create an illusion of extra movement.

Object history | The design is partly inspired by the paintings and prints of Edward Wadsworth (1889-1949) which feature the geometric camouflage patterns applied to shipping during the First World War. The title of the album was suggested by Peter Saville after a painting by Edward Wadsworth. |
