Place of origin |
This poster was issued by the Alliance of Free Democrats on the occasion of the first free elections in Hungary in 1990. Together, the slogan and image assert the claim for an independent Hungary. The title of the film 'Some like it hot' was well known in Hungary and everybody understood the witty reference to it in this poster. Here 'It' stands for Hungary which is signified on the poster through the contours of the country's map. The map and the party logo (three birds in the national colours) form a backdrop. The main impact of the poster comes from the typography which the designer uses to create a rhythm of form and background, positive and negative. A Times font (associated with the press), was chosen for party's graphic identity.
