Place of origin |
This poster was issued by the Hungarian Democratic Forum during the first free elections in Hungary following the collapse of communism. The slogan 'For a Hungarian Future' is illustrated with an image of a pregnant woman. This theme recalls the main slogan of the Hungarian conservatives: 'God, fatherland, family.' The colourful, emotional image mirrors a traditional conception of family and the role of women. The hair and hands of the woman form the contours of the map of Hungary. The image visualises the idea of patriotism formulated in the slogan. The painterly character of the image makes this poster an exception among the electoral posters of the time.
