Place of origin |
This kind of subtle graphic language is unusual for an election poster. The designer, Erno Sára, has composed the image entirely from heraldic elements. As a symbol for the Hungarian Christian Democratic Party he has chosen the right-hand section of the traditional Hungarian coat of arms with the double cross and three hills motif. This stresses an important principal of the party: the long tradition of Christianity as state forming entity. The logo of the Hungarian Christian Democratic Party, seen in the lower part of the poster, consists of the same elements. In addition, the heads of corn on the logo suggest that it is primarily a party of rural Hungary. These were the first free elections in Hungary following the collapse of communism.
