A piece of crepe paper printed in colour from several woodblocks. The design has a double border, on the outside there are rosettes and striped ribbons within parallel lines, on the inside there is a garland of roses twined around a ribbed solomonic column. The paper is printed in red, gold, mustard, white, pale blue, lemon, peach, lilac, light brown, lime green and grey-green on a cream background.

Production | This piece of paper has a series of 16 sets of small circles used to record which colours have been printed and possibly to assist with ensuring that the printed design remains in register. The exact function of this paper is unclear. It may have been used in some adapted form as a wallpaper, a substitute for textiles on sideboards, or to cover tables or stalls at fairs or charitable events. |
