Watch out for the yellow line

Poster
1996-1997 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This poster is part of a campaign of bold, vividly coloured information posters commissioned to brighten up dull railway stations. The design company Johnson Banks was partly inspired by the spirit of railway posters of the 1920s and 1930s and this influence can be detected in the use of reduced shapes and flat masses of colour. This poster has a safety message reminding passengers not to cross the yellow line at the edge of the platform. The poster is designed to be readable at a distance from a train window. The series was nominated for BBC and D&AD (British Design and Art Direction) awards.
