Object history | One of a pair with 414:428-1885 (Sch. I 822). One of these groups was purchased by Lady Charlotte Schreiber from 'Small Shop London' for £3 in August 1881 and the other from Pivernau [?], London, for £1 1 shilling in September 1881 This group served as a model which was imitated by other porcelain factories in Great Britain. The group has been adapted from an engraving by Charles Nicolas Cochin (fils) entitled Foire de Campagne, after a design by François Boucher. |
Production | Factory records refer to groups 414:428&A-1885 as La Curiosite and La Loterie. They are after a print derived from a tapestry design by François Boucher. The models were also copied at Doccia. Information kinldy provided by Tamara Préaud, July 2012. |
