Five milliard francs are piled in sacks on the ground and the Republique Sociale sinks with the setting sun on the horizon. Signed PILOTELL.
Print from a set of caricatures, broadsheets and illustrations in ten volumes. Each volume is half-bound in red leather, gold tooled and stamped with imperial emblems, title etc.

Lettered La Caricature n’a pas paru pendant l’occupation de Paris par les troupes allemandes. Twice 10c. Process engraving, coloured by hand. 12½ x 17½ in. (31.8 x 44.4 cm.). E.2214-1962 Thiers assisted by Favre is caricatured cutting off the right arm of France, that is Alsace Lorraine, the provinces they ceded to the Germans. The five milliard francs are piled in sacks on the ground and dreams of a socially orientated Republic sink with the setting sun on the horizon. Process engraving, coloured by hand.
