Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This delicate sea-themed teapot by Belleek shows the company's trademark iridescent glaze. On the underside of the lid is printed instructions for using the teapot: 'Fill with water blood warm and allow it to stand a few minutes empty and use with boiling water'. These instructions are evidence of the practice of 'warming the pot' which avoids damage to the teapot through thermal shock and ensures that the boiling water does not drop in temperature as soon as it is poured in.
