Anonymous Napoleon III transformed into an ass. Napoleon was nick-named Badinguet after the workman he is said to have impersonated when he escaped from the Fortress of Ham in 1846. There, he had been condemned to perpetual imprisonment for his unsuccessful invasion of France at Boulogne six years earlier. Lithograph. E.351-1962(27/05/1971-10/10/1971)
