This beaker was probably intended for drinking chocolate, an expensive, fashionable and relatively new beverage imported from Mexico and the Caribbean.
The Vezzi factory intended to create oriental-style porcelain, however the painter of this piece has used Chinese style motifs in overglaze enamel colours instead of the underglaze blue decoration more characteristic of imported Chinese wares.
