This is the reverse of a bronze plaquette. It shows a female figure holding a pen in her right hand and a scroll in her left sat besides the body of a woman lying on a couch. The obverse of this plaquette is number 679-1894, which commemorates Dr Léon Gosselin, a French doctor and scientist. It is the work of Oscar Louis Roty, the leading French medallist of the late nineteenth century.

Reverse of plaquette, bronze, struck from a die, and silvered; by the side of a couch, on which the body of a woman is laid, sits a female figure holding a pen in her right hand and a scroll in her left. Above are the words CLINIQVE. CHIRVRGICALE DE L'HOPITAL DE LA CHARITE LEÇONS SVR LES HERNIES, whilst beneath is the legend VIRVM. OPTIMVM. MANV. ET DOCTRINA. MVLTIS. SALVTAREM- DISCIPVLI. ET. AMICI. Signed 'O. Roty'
