This electrotype plaquette of silvered copper depicts a seated woman seated tending cattle, which are seen in a landscape to the right above is the inscription, JVVENCAS. ANIMVMQUE PASCENS (Feeding the cattle and the mind). This medal is the work of Louis Oscar Roty, the leading French medallist of the late nineteenth century.
