Inkwell of soft-paste porcelain painted in underglaze blue. With a nearly cylindrical body and slightly concave sides, short narrow neck, and four holes for pens round the shoulder, and inscribed with 'A Trifle from LOWESTOFT', enclosed within a panel of rococo scrollwork. On the reverse side of the body are sprays of flowers and two insects, and round the shoulder and inside the mouth are formal borders in Chinese style.

Inkwell of soft-paste porcelain painted in underglaze blue. With a nearly cylindrical body and slightly concave sides, short narrow neck, and four holes for pens round the shoulder, and inscribed with 'A Trifle from LOWESTOFT', enclosed within a panel of rococo scrollwork.
