This teapot has a glazed surface that imitates the appearance of iron. With its decoration of raised gilding depicting storks and blossom it is very much in the taste of the Aesthetic Movement, a style which embraced the arts and crafts of Japan and which greatly influenced the decorative arts in England and America in the 1860s-1870s.
