This is the reverse side of a medal in cast bronze. It shows Michel Eugène Chevreul seated in an armchair being addressed by a young woman in classical costume, holding a laurel wreath. Beneath his chair there are volumes and a document, whilst on the left there is a table with scientific apparatus. The legend reads thus :- LA JEVNESSE FRANCAISE AV DOYEN DES ETUDIANTS 31 AOVT 1786. 31 AOVT 1886.

Chevreul was a French chemist credited with the discovery of margarine.

The obverse side of this medal is No. 660-1894.
