Chocolate beaker and saucer, hard-paste porcelain with moulded decoration in relief, Meissen, ca. 1726-7
Physical description
Chocolate beaker and saucer, of white hard-paste porcelain with moulded decoration of prunus blossom in relief. The beaker is closely copied from a Dehua porcelain, and has the double footring found on some Dehua pieces.

Object history
It is unmarked, except for the wheel-cut numeral which shows that it was formerly in the Royal Saxon Collection at the Japanese Palace in Dresden. (From RP: 1922/3398).
Production
Archive of Inter-Departmental Transfer of Museum Objects (RP: 1980/280)
Several beakers and saucers of this type with this number are known. It has been suggested that they were probably experimental pieces made by the Meissen 'arcanist' (compounder) Samuel Stölzel (1685-1737) around 1726-7 (see Object Information file).
