Folding chair with solid oak frame, with canvas laced seat and back and separate canvas padded seat and back cushion. Chair held upright by broad leather straps from front of frame, over frame at sides and down to the buckles at back legs. Front legs hinge flat against the frame for storage. Cylindrical head rest, canvas covered on narrow leather straps over top back of the frame. Light natural oak finish. Natural canvas fabric.

Trained School for Interior Design, Copenhagen. Worked as a cabinet maker under Finn Juhl, on seating units UN Building, New York; Partner with Jorgen Kastholm, 1965-68; teacher in furniture design, School for Interior Design, Copenhagen, since 1967; own design office from 1968, Holte, Denmark. Work exhibited Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam 1966, Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, 1968. Illum Foundation Award 1968; Bundespeis Gute Form 1969. Jorgen Kastholm: Architect, furniture designer. Born 1931. Apprenticed as a blacksmith. Trained Fredericksberg, School of Technology. Worked for Fritz Hansen and Ole Hagen; own office, from 1964, Holte, Denmark; Partner with Preben Fabricius 1965-68. Range of objects designed has included furniture for Kill International, Ivan Schleter, cutlery, textiles, light fittings, books. Chairs exhibited Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam 1966, Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris 1968. |
