Omar Ramsen and Alwyn Carr formed a successful silversmithing partnership in 1899, on coming down from the Sheffield School of Art. The partnership was established in London and lasted until 1918, with Omar Ramsden retaining control of the original business and Alwyn Carr continuing as an independent silversmith. Ramsden continued working until his death in 1939 and Carr until his in 1940.

Physical description | Beaker shaped vase with spreading foot and mouth and body swelling towards the top. The ornament consists of a band of conventional pomegranates borne by curving and interlacing stems rising from a wave-border round the edge of the foot. An astragal moulding marks the junction of the foot and the body. The octagonal stand is supported by eight silver feet attached by clamps and a band underneath. |
