Carpet of woollen pile. With a pink border containing a deeply stepped key pattern with cruciform motives in the interstices. With a patterned green field with a design consisting of rows of half-diamond motives across the width. At one end, the first row of motives is of complete diamond shapes. Different colours in the pile pick out the pattern. The weft is of a uniform deep blue. To every row of knots there is approximately 0.5 inch of weft threads. Colours of navy blue, blue, white, and several shades of pink and green.

Object history
The main purpose of a ryijy was to be a warm cover either in bed or while traveling in a sled. More decorative ones often commemorated weddings and were on the floor only during the ceremony.
