Bruno Mathsson was 72 years old in 1979 and had been designing for 50 years. He was elected an Honorable Royal Designer of Industry in 1978. The chair came to the Furniture department's attention through an illustration in the journal 'Design'. It was exhibited, with another earlier Mathsson design, at the 'Svensk Form' exhibition at the V&A in 1980. |
