This wood engraving by artist Jonathan Mercer (born 1958) features Meadowhall Shopping centre and is artwork for W.H. Smith shop signage. Various artists were commissioned by W.H. Smith to design a shop sign for each branch, drawing on local themes and landmarks. The designs were then photographically enlarged and printed on plaques. Two other examples of artwork by this artist for the same project are at E.7-1996 and E.8-1996.
