Object history
Purchased by Lady Charlotte Schreiber from Van Gorkum, Utrecht, for 2 shillings 6 pence in November 1872. In her Journals (vol. I, p. 170), she recorded: 'Gorkum, our old friend from 1869, was unluckily from home, but C.S. spied out among his miscellaneous stock a very fine apple of Chelsea china in the form of a box and cover, which Mme. Gorkum sold to us for 2/6.'
