Copied with slight modifications from an engraving by Laurent Cars after a picture painted in 1724 by François Lemoyne, now in the Louvre Museum, Paris.
Purchased by Lady Charlotte Schreiber from a sale at Christie's for £3 3 shillings in January 1870
Acquired as Chelsea porcelain.
