Object history
Sun Artists was a series of eight portfolios dedicated to artistic photography and illustrated with photogravures, published between October 1889 and July 1891. Each number in the series was devoted to a single British photographer and included four photogravures and a letterpress essay contained in a brown letterpress cover with letterpress endpapers. The series was edited by W. Arthur Boord, published by Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co., Ltd. and printed by Chiswick Press. Along with this portfolio (no. 7 in the series), the RPS Collection holds two bound complete folios containing all eight of the portfolios that were eventually published.
