This front of a tank of a Lavello in carved Istrian stone is by an unknown artist from the early 16th century.

It originates from the abbey of S. Galgano, near Siena, Italy. The tank-front, of which only part is preserved, has three recessed panels with moulded edges. In the two side panels are grotesque masks with pierced mouths for water-jets.

Physical description
The tank-front, of which only part is preserved, has three recessed panels with moulded edges. In the two side panels are grotesque masks with pierced mouths for water-jets; in the centre is an impresa or device, apparently a mountain pierced by a sword.
