Each no. contains advertisements on inside covers, on back cover and on p. bound before and after the text; advertisement on all inside back covers is for E. Moses & Son, London and on all back covers for Heal & Son's, London.
Errata: p. xvi.
First ed. consisting of 20 monthly issues in 19 (last issue contains no. 19 & 20) issued monthly from March 1852 to Sept. 1853.
No. 19 & 20 contains frontispiece and engraved half t.p. before the text and p. [i]-xvi (which include the t.p.) at the end of the text.
The publishers are also the printers.

Magazines, including novels issued in monthly parts, were one of the great successes of 19th-century publishing. From the 1830s printing technology and methods of distribution allowed huge numbers to be circulated rapidly. Customers were drawn in by the eye-catching graphics on the covers.
