Object history
The arrangement and nature of the lettering on the sheet as well as diagonal fold lines on the lower margins and a vertical fold line on the left margin indicate that this was probably a wrapper. Lettering on the sheet with some words repeated or abbreviated, translates as: Parchment Paper / Food wrapping paper factory "Sokol" / USSR, VSNh [Central Trust for cellulose and paper industry / St. Souhon [the 'st.' is not an abbreviation for 'saint'] / Nothern railway line Postal division Sokol / regional poligraphy, Kalonga. Sergei Chekhonin designed the Hammer & Sickle emblem for the Soviet Union.
