Dua Lipa (born 1995) is a British-Albanian singer, model, and entrepreneur. Since 2015, her blend of 1970s disco, ’80s pop and ’90s club music has made her one of the most successful British pop singers of the 2010-20s.
This costume is from the live tour for Future Nostalgia (named for the album released in 2020), which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It eventually began in Miami, Florida in February 2022. The costumes were designed by Casey Cadwallader, Creative Director at Thierry Mugler, to evoke the disco sound of the Future Nostalgia album.
The costume is emblematic of the style of stage wear worn by major pop artists in the 2010-20s: sparkling, figure-hugging and practical for energetic choreography. W magazine dubbed Cadwallader's bodysuits ‘the pop star uniform’, as artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Beyoncé and Dua Lipa have performed in the custom bodycon designs.
