Bionicle is a line of construction toys created by Lego which was launched in 2000 and marketed to 6 to 16 year olds. They are posable toys that each have a character, either good or evil, which forms part of a science fantasy story. Bionicle was the first Lego product to have an in-house story developed for it, in fact the story has been engineered so that it will last for some years into the future. The first full length animated film was released in 2003. One of their popular slogans is 'tools not weapons'.
