The Franco-Italian Album

Design
1749-1755 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Sketch plan of the Bath of Agrippina. Marly and its gardens were designed as a hermitage for Louis XIV by J.H. Mansart. 5712.305, while presumably intended to show the King's pavilion, is so different from what was there that we must assume Chambers has 'improved' it. The sphinx in 5712.103, a much imitated model, is one of a set of 1701-1703 in lead by Jean Hardy and Nicolas Coustu.
