Place of origin |
This rococo style vase is in 'Rose du Barry' or 'Rose du Pompadour', a delicate pink first used on Sèvres porcelain in the 1750s and revived in England in the nineteenth century. It is one of a pair and probably would have been displayed on a mantlepiece. Rococo style came to England from France in the 1730s, was out of fashion by the 1770s and enjoyed a long revival from about 1820. English companies, such as Coalport, catered for the enthusiasm for eighteenth-century porcelain of French and German factories such as Sèvres and Meissen, with their extravagant forms and bright sugary colours.
