Brass and Crystal Headdress

Brass Headdress
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Vicki Sarge is a luxury costume jewellery designer with an outstanding career spanning over four decades. To date, Sarge continues to dazzle catwalk shows with trendsetting and experimental pieces which reference global and pop culture. Her early pieces were inspired by the style, glitz and glamour of late 1970s and early 1980s-night life in New York City.

Her pieces have been worn by celebrities such as Beyonce, Paloma Faith, Helen Mirren, Kate Moss, Tilda Swinton and many more. Sarge also creates pieces for the film and theatre industry, including The Favourite, Elizabeth: The Golden Age and Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Cinderella at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

The headdress was created for singer Beyonce in 2010, when stylist Jenke Ahmed Tailly was commissioned to style the 90th anniversary cover of the magazine L’Officiel. Beyonce was featured on the cover in March 2011 wearing the headdress. Jenke approached Sarge and her team to create an extraordinary headpiece based on her previous collection “Sex Machine”, which was inspired by female warriors. The piece is made of solid brass and mesh, with the addition of metal coins and Austrian crystals. This considerate gift was exceptionally timed, as the DIVA team were able to include the headdress in the exhibition.
