Shirley Craven was chief designer and a director of the forward looking company Hull Traders. The firm took advantage of the flexibility offered by screen-printing and manufactured a constantly expanding range of bright modern designs. It won the Council of Industrial Design Award for printed textiles on a regular basis, including an award in 1968 for this design. Shirley Craven worked directly from sketches, developing several related designs simultaneously, always achieving freshness and spontaneity.
