Object history | The verses below the top image read: From the sea and behind the mountains / Wrangell suddenly appeared, in a rage / Hey Soldier don't sleep / Don't give your land to the barons. [i.e. all the `Baron Wrangells']. The verse below the lower image reads: As he lifted his hand the red soldier gave him a nudge / Look people, on the bayonet / We now see the head of a monster instead of Wrangel / and hiding under the cloak / are black bandits / the devils / What a lot of fat mug / [They have] Millerand, George and Foch / all awaiting death / We will rest a while but then we shall push them too / into the sea / The black cloud will go / and our nation's troubles will be over. Alexandre Millerand, French politician (1859-1943), David Lloyd George, British Prime Minister (1863-1945), and Ferdinand Foch, French Marshal (1851-1929) and others are revealed from under Wrangell's cloak lettered `Entente'. |
