Object history
Alix Stone was a student at the Central School of Arts and Crafts studying stage design when she was introduced to Lady Maufe, who asked her to provide designs for Heal and Son. The plate was given to the Museum following the purchase of designs by her at the sale of Lady Maufe. Among these are designs for ceramics and ceramic transfers (E.788 to E.838-1977). Gray’s Pottery bought blanks from other potteries for decorating. They applied their own back stamp over that of the manufacturing pottery.
