Object history | Commissioned by Penguin for one of the 'Great Orwell' editions, 2013. The artist Paul Catherall explains that the brief 'had a specific limited palette of 3 colours'. The imagery represents 'buildings in some chaos - not necessarily specific London or Paris landmarks'. Each colour was carved separately and printed in black by the artist. The publishers used a Pantone reference to print each colour in layers, similar to the method of producing linocuts rather than being a colour reproduction. |
